2011 Commercial Lambing:

The commercial lambing season was in total contrast to the pedigrees. The weather was dry and warm and allowed the ewes and lambs to go to grass quickly and get off to a great start. This year we had a few very busy lambing days which highlighted our need for more lambing pens. Only the weather was so kind, there would have been losses. Some lambs were going out at less than 12 hours old.

There was a good crop and minimal losses at lambing. The yearling ewes dragged on a bit later than we would have liked because of the severe weather in November/December. We left the rams out a bit longer than usual. The lambing did not finish until 8th May.

2011 Pedigree Lambing:

The 2011 lambing season began in the frosty days before Christmas 2010. The lambs survived the weather conditions better than the shepherds! Breaking ice, ferrying water, gritting yards, de-icing spectacles all among the chores every day for 4 weeks. The New Year welcomed the lambs from the AI and milder weather.
